Nested at the base of the West Maui Mountains in the quiet town of Waikapu is a historic plantation with impeccable grounds and an award-winning restaurant.

It's easy to miss this hidden treasure located only 10 miles from the airport. Most tourists pass the Maui Tropical Plantation on their newly discovered short-cut from the airport to their resorts in Lahaina or Kihei.

For those that discover the plantation with its farmer's market, zip line, and the exquisite Mill House Restaurant, they will be rewarded with visual and culinary treats exceeding the most discerning travelers' expectations.

There are plenty of places to sit and relax to enjoy the quiet beauty of the plantation. Maui Tropical Plantation is comprised of more than 60 acres of farmland in addition to shops, restaurant, and amphitheater.

The grounds are peaceful and tranquil, inviting all to shed the stress and anxiety of their everyday lives and simply relax.

There are several shops and stores in addition to the Mill House Restaurant. A stroll along the storefront is reminiscent of exploring a small quaint 1960s era Hawaiian town.

Relics from the functioning sugar mill and plantation can still be seen displayed on the property.

Visitors share these beautiful grounds with ducks, chickens, and several other small animals. The birds appear to be as unrushed and relaxed as the people.

The Mill House Maui has initially been the plantation's banquet hall. It has been transformed into one of the best (and certainly the most picturesque) places to dine in the world.

Maui Tropical Plantation is in the town of Waikapu, which is one of the "four waters." The town's name is derived from a Hawaiian folklore involving enchanted conch shells. Waikapu is translated to mean "waters of the conch."

Take a break from the sand and surf, and enjoy this wonderful slice of paradise.

Don't forget to mention Nomad's Lens when you visit.

Mahalo!
