Let's start by reminding our readers that Nomad's Lens has as its primary purpose the goal of showing our readers provocative and exciting travel locations around the world. This post is no exception. Any implied political commentary in this blog is just that, implied. Nomad's Lens is simply providing insight, photos, and art related to Havana, Cuba.

Revolution Square is located at the highest point in Havana with murals and displays of Cuba's past. The square is flanked by several government buildings including the Ministry of Interior building proudly displaying Che Guevara's image.

Plaza de la Revolución (Revolution Square), Havana, Cuba is one of the major stops for photo opportunities when taking the classic convertible car excursion. The tour guides are knowledgeable and entertaining providing an unrushed glimpse at Cuban history.

Similar to Revolution Square, the Museum of the Revolution details the history of the Cuban revolution and the long-term relationship of Cuba with the United States. Pictured below is what is titled "Corner of Cretins".

Any trip to Havana should include a guided tour of Revolution Square and a visit to the museums in Old Havana. There are numerous original photos and displays revealing the Cuban perspective.

Parodies of past American Presidents adorn the main wall as you exit the Museum of the Revolution.

These vivid, comic displays were not expected and at first glance, appeared to be completely out of context.

But after further reflection, the custodians of this historic museum (which is housed within the previous presidential palace) knew exactly how to make a statement about the contributions of previous leaders of the United States.

Havana, Cuba is a wonderful city with friendly locals anxious to expand communications with its northern neighbors. Our hope is that travel restrictions for Americans will soon be lifted.....maybe in 2020?!

One can only hope..........
