Wineries of the Okanagan Valley, Canada

Beautiful Okanagan Valley is home to some of the best vineyards and wineries in the world. Known for award-winning ice wines, this region of the Canadian province of British Columbia has several dozen top-rated wine producers along the banks of Okanagan Lake.

Okanagan Valley in a popular vacation destination in British Columbia known for its scenic beauty, majestic lakes, and world-class vineyards. Ruby Blues Winery is one of the exceptional vineyards on the Naramata Bench in the resort town of Penticton, BC, Canada.

Ruby Blues Winery takes advantage of the gentle south facing slope toward Okanagan Lake to grown exceptionally complex grapes.

There are several original sculptures and plenty of places to relax and absorb the beauty of this majestic location.

Ruby Blues Winery blends wonderfully with its neighboring winery, the Red Rooster. The majority of these sculptures are located across from Ruby Blues on the tranquil grounds of the Red Rooster.

The statue of the 'naked guy' with a suitcase in hand is one of the more provocative sculptures on the property. Carrying only a suitcase, one wonders if he is arriving or departing this eclectic winery.

As with the majority of wineries on the Naramata bench, nearly all of the wines produced are spectacular.

The majority of these locally produced wines are not available in the U.S. (except a few of the wines produced by the larger vineyards in south Okanagan Valley and also near Kelowna), so plan on bringing an extra suitcase or box to take a case or two home.

There are several cities to choose from as a base - Kelowna, Summerland, Penticton for example. The quaint resort town of Penticton is my favorite with its reasonable accommodations, lakefront bars, and great places to eat.

Several airlines fly directly to Penticton (WestJet, Canadian Airlines), but you can get more frequent daily flights from the U.S. if you fly into Kelowna, Canada (Delta, Alaskan, WestJet).

Consider using the travel apps on our homepage to find the best flights and rental cars for your upcoming trip to the Okanagan Valley.

As always, don't forget to mention Nomad's Lens when you visit the different vineyards.

Cheers!
