Paia Town - Serenity on the North Shore of Maui, Hawaii

There are very few places in the world that blends eclectic fashion, quaint shops, great food, hippie vibes, yoga relaxation and a surfer's paradise into one wonderfully enjoyable package. Paia town on the north shore of Maui does just that.

Paia is like no other place on earth with its laid-back approach and welcoming community. The local population is less than 3000 and the town only 7.5 square miles.

The majority of visitors spend only a few hours in Paia as they start their memorable journey on the road to Hana (watch for upcoming post on "The Road to Hana").

Many tourists simply come to Paia to enjoy the quaint shops and art galleries.

Consider staying in Paia for a few nights or longer. There are several B&Bs, rental homes, lodges and inns that can be found on VRBO, Airbnb and Kayak websites. Three of my favorite places to stay are Lumeria Maui (approximately 3 miles from the city center), Paia Inn and Nalu Kai Lodge.

Paia Inn and Nalu Kai Lodge are located in the town's center at the intersection of Baldwin Road and Hana Highway. There are a few added amenities at Paia Inn including having direct access to Baldwin Beach, but both properties are wonderfully managed, clean and comfortable. Lumeria (pictured below) is a place to truly find inner peace.

Paia Town is the perfect place to stop, take a deep breath and recharge from life's stresses. When visiting any of the shops, restaurants or Paia Inn/Nalu Kai, mention Nomad's Lens for a surprise gift or discount.

Mahalo!
