Slippery rocks, beautiful beach and wonderful fun-filled unforgettable adventure is the only way to describe Dunn's River Falls. Dunn's River Falls is a beautiful natural waterfall in Ochos Rios that remains one of the top attractions of the beautiful island of Jamaica.

Located in Saint Ann's parish, Dunn's River runs approximately 180 feet from it main source to the sea. The water fall is the center piece of a wonderful "waterpark" which has strong sense of excitement that you will immediately feel once you've entered the gates.

Typically, you are greeted by a 6 foot tall, Tyler Perry-like gentlemen dressed in a traditional historic Jamaican dress and accompanied by a floral laced donkey. This is a photo opportunity that I strongly recommend you take. How many chances will you have to sit on a real live donkey at Dunn's River Fall with a traditionally Jamaican attired drag queen?

The most important gear needed for the Dunn's River waterfall climb (which is very rocky and at times very slippery) is a great pair of water sandals or shoes. The starting point is at the base of the fall from a wonderful beach where the river meets the Caribbean sea.

I suggest taking a few minutes and simply enjoying the beach and the wonderful calm waters perfect for taking a dip. The tour guides lead a chain of climbers up the falls using their experience and knowledge of the safer spots to step.

As you climb the falls, you will also enjoy the beautiful lush landscape and meet people from nearly every place in the world. Along the route and certainly after taking a few "seated water slides" on smooth river rocks, enjoy conversations with new friends and bring along your GoPro or waterproof camera to capture the excitement. Dunn's River Falls is a place to create life long memories.
